Crystal Cove State Park Cottage Tour
Join your fellow Illini on Saturday, June 9th, 2012 for a docent-led tour and hike of the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District located along the wide, sandy beach below the coastal bluffs near Laguna Beach. Many of the original 46 cottages built in the 1930’s have been restored by the State of California. The Crystal Cove Community is registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. The tour will be led by Laura Davick, Founder and President of Crystal Cove Alliance.
When: Saturday June 9, 2012 This is a free tour.
Parking : Park in the Los Trancos Parking area at Crystal Cove situated halfway between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach on Pacific Coast Highway. Cost is $15 for the day but will be validated with a Beachcomber Restaurant receipt.
It is a short walk to the Historic District either by a tunnel under PCH or pedestrian crosswalk at the Los Trancos signal light. There is also a shuttle bus for $1 that travels back and forth between the parking lot and the cottages.
Meeting place: Tour begins at 10:00 A.M. so we will meet around 9:30 at cottage #35 in the Historic District. Cottage #35 is the reception check-in area on the map. The tour will take about 2 hours.
Lunch: For those interested we will try to eat as a group at the Beachcomber restaurant after the tour. Lunch entrees and sandwiches run about $15.
Afterwards you are welcome to spend the day and enjoy the walking areas and scenery of Crystal Cove State Park.
